SEEKING FEEDBACK ON IWONDER

IWonder, a student tool powered by INFOhio, includes age-appropriate, curated collections of websites to help students in grades 4-9 with homework and research. IWonder’s collection of websites are chosen by Ohio school librarians and provide a jumping off place for student inquiry and curiosity.

Are you an educator who uses or has used IWonder with your students? To help improve this student tool, INFOhio needs your feedback. They are seeking information on how you are using IWonder in your classroom or school. Fill out this IWonder User Feedback survey to share your thoughts, suggestions, and feedback with them.

BE INTERNET AWESOME AND CS FIRST FROM GOOGLE IN OPEN SPACE

The internet safety and digital citizenship curriculum, Be Internet Awesome, and computer science curriculum, CS First, both developed by Google have been added as items in Open Space.

Be Internet Awesome allows educators and parents to introduce learners to fundamental, safe internet browsing habits that are essential for website and social media usage. This program was designed for grades 2-6, but students younger or older can benefit from the lessons. Using an interactive game and offline lessons and activities, students will learn the following topics: how to keep things private online, how to spot phishy and untrustworthy sites, advertisements, emails, creating a secure password, netiquette principles, and how to communicate with others in tricky situations. Instructional materials are available in English and Spanish and include a full curriculum, family support guide, individual units and lessons, interactive presentations through Peardeck, and an interactive game called Interland.

CS First is a collection of computer science lessons, units, and resources that can be used as part of a full class in computer science, an individual unit or series of lessons in other subject areas, or as supplemental learning activities such as Hour of Code or in at-home and extended learning environments. The CS First collection features 20 introductory to advanced lessons, complete with instructional videos, formative assessments, lesson plans, examples, and project files for use in a customized version of the Scratch drag-and-drop block coding platform. The platform also offers a teacher dashboard for educators to track student progress and success.

Both curriculums have been aligned with ISTE standards and offer additional materials like promotional flyers, certificates of completion, and teacher training materials.

Open Space, a curriculum creation and collaboration tool, powered by INFOhio, empowers educators to create and share resources that promote innovative and collaborative learning. Instructional materials added to Open Space go through an evaluation process using a quality rubric. In addition to finding quality instructional materials, Open Space users can view and rate resources and also share content to Google Classroom.
